During Seth and Wyatt's high school careers, they started playing and writing music before they even understood traditional song structure, music theory, etc. The band that was formed involved 3 students and the schools psychology teacher. They played for a total of 4 years consistently playing music with a sound of blues, psychadelic, and classic rock. They put on local shows for town events and family functions. When Wyatt graduated that band was unable to play as much as they once had. Wyatt and Seth were able to start writing for a separate, very different sounding project. At college Wyatt found a keyboardist named Emma, and bassist named Ben. With new voices in the band the direction shifted again, leaning itself to more nuanced sound that uses complex parts while respecting the other instruments in the band. The name Dolt came when a band member didn't know what the word meant. Dolt has been working to bring their ideas to life and are hoping to get the opportunity to record the songs they have written

Dolt is the result of way too many influences, a lot of ideas, and some third thing. Hailing from Wisconsin, Dolt combines funk, blues, rock, jazz, pop and more into a syncopated blend. We call it garden sound patent pending. There's something about singing harmonies over a groove that we can't get enough of and hope you can't either(that would be rude). This website was developed partially as a passion project/challenge for Ben, but mostly because the band appreciates older styling. There's a certain uniqueness that comes with old, basic HTML websites, that modern websites can't embody. A basic template (link) was used for the formatting/template, and then was expanded upon to have a custom flare that matches the band's personality. This site will be updated periodically with both band updates, and fun secrets for our fans!
